the driveway culverts in the residential area and probably restricted it to <br />one culvert per resident. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann said in the 11 years he has been involved with the city, the <br />city has never bought a culvert and he didn't think the city was ever in the <br />business of furnishing culverts. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the general consensus of the council is to leave the ordinance <br />the way it is and let the residents pursue a variance, if they wish. <br /> <br />2) City of Ramsey in Regards to 1980 U. S. Census <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said the staff does not have the time to go <br />out and check the 1980 Census and it is recommended that the city hire someone <br />who knows the city to do this. There is a owman by the na~e of Helen Wimple <br />who has been involved in the census for Ramsey and Andover and is very familiar <br />with the procedures and she is interest in doing this. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said to make sure the bordering houses of Ramsey were counted. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox suggested hiring someone for a short time to spot check. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec informed the Council that the census letter said the minimum <br />time for checking for census accuracy is 10 hours. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Mickelson to hire <br />someone to spot check the 1980 U. S. Census for accuracy at $4.00/hour <br />for 10 hours. <br /> <br />Motion carried, voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None. <br /> <br />3) Deleting Special Assessment on Street Improvement; Case of Bertha Mae <br /> <br />Smith Johnson <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Sorteberg to adopt Resolution 80- 46 Deleting Special <br />Assessment on Street Improvement on the unbuildable lot owned by <br />Bertha Mae Smith Johnson and to authorize the City of Ramsey to reimburse <br />Mrs. Smith in the amount of $278.80 for the first installment payment she <br />made on the assessment. Motion seconded by Councilman Cox. Voting yes- <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann, Mickelson and Cox. Voting no- <br />None. Motion carried. Please refer to resolution file for Resolution 80- 46 <br /> <br />4) Request by Moroz OK Hardware for Approval for a Self-Service Gas Station <br /> <br />~(6013 - 167th Avenue N.W.)~ <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the problems involved in putting in a self-service <br />gas station at the hardware store. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka said the building would have to be 110' from the center <br />line ~r 50' from the right-of-way and the pumps would have to be 10' from the <br />building. <br /> <br />Mr. Moroz said there is a need in their area for a gas station. <br /> <br />C/May 27, 1980 <br />Page 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
