City Assessor Wirz said there was new construction and it is very possible that <br />the County figured that in. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec directed City Attorney Goodrich to find out if the city can <br />still change it. He noted Anoka County Assessor Thurston was at the Board <br />of Review and said that the figurea the council came up with should be more <br />than enough. <br /> <br />Councilman Mickelson said the County might have included property in their <br />report that the City didn't include in their report. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann noted the letter from State Representative Bob McEachern <br />regarding recruitment effort by the military forces in schools. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said he received a call from Vice President Mondale's office and <br />they said they are going to be watching the situation. They said the city <br />should be more courteous in their writing noting the "un~merican" reference <br />in their letter. They said they felt the letter from Mr. Maus was not <br />appropriate, was misinforming and the Department of the Navy did not go along <br />with it. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox suggested the city send a letter to Mr. Maus if he can be <br />gotten ahold of and tell him the city supports him. He said he felt people <br />should speak out for democracy. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to send a <br />letter to Mr. Maus telling him the city support him for taking initiative <br />regarding recruitment efforts by the military forces in schools. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes-Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann, Mickelson and Cox. <br />Voting no-Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said he opposed the motion because he didn't think the council <br />investigated it enough and took only one man's word. He said the city ran into <br />a problem in dealing with the school districts and they took our letter wrong. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br />City Attorney Report <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich said Mr. Don Otter of Waste Management wants to <br />meet on Friday, June 27, 1980 and he felt a representative from the council <br />should be at this meeting. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he would go to the meeting if the Mayor is going to be out <br />of town. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich said he would be meeting with Mr, Nugent on Wednesday, <br />June 25, 1980. He said it is difficult under the existing ordinance to let <br />Mr. Nugent have pigs. He suggested amending the ordinance to include <br />getting a variance.
