Councilman Reimann said he looked at the area.

Councilman Cox noted that according to the ordinance, no building permits
should have been issued there.

Councilman Sorteberg said it appears the city made a mistake years ago and
he felt the city should attempt to partially fix the problem now.

City Engineer Raatikka said it would take roughly $13,000 to $14,000 to upgrade
it like the others. He said the city has not maintained or accepted the road
and it wasn't put in when the other streets were put in.

Mayor Gamec noted there is no chance in the future of going across because of
the swamp.

A resident who was present at the meeting said his house is on the corner
179th & Yakima along with another house which belongs to Dave Bruce. He said
his property line is right at the center of the power line pole.

A discussion was held with the resident regarding his property there.

Councilman Sorteberg noted the council didn't need to determine the assessment
of that area at this point.

Mayor Gamec said the council should determine whether or not to do the project,
whether or not to cut the project off at 179th or whether or not to leave
south of 179th off.

The resident said he would like to see it blacktopped so he could get into
his driveway.

City Engineer Raatikka expressed concern about bringing it up to his driveway
because of the other person living there also and this would total 230'.

The resident said his driveway is about 100'. He said he didn't know exactly
how it is platted out because the power line would have to be almost in the
center of the road. He said they should not'have been allo~ed~to put that power
line where they did.

City Attorney Goodrich informed the council that it is a city street, but
he didn't kn~w if it was inspected or not.

Councilman Cox said those people should never have gotten building permits.

Mayor Gamec said this particular area will be assessed back to all the property
owners in this particular project. He recommended going ahead with the rest
of the project and leaving that area out.

Councilman Cox noted that the city is going to have to face the consequences
sooner or later.

Mayor Gamec said it could be done for the two people living there or it could
be done for the people in the whole project.

C/June 24, 1980
Page 5
