Mayor Gamec said the Public Health Department said they would have <br />their test results and answers for the city by the meeting on <br />September 15, 1980. When the city takes over, he wanted to have <br />a lot of the problems solved. He said the city can contact Mr. Otter, <br />Waste Management, tomorrow regarding cutting back on the pump. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said he felt there should be an emergency <br />number to call as it doesn't help to call city staff or council members° <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said they are going to set up some system for phone calls <br />which will be brought up at the meeting on September 15th. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said everyone told him uniformly that methane is not <br />expected to move during the summer months. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said even if everything went perfect, a system to take care <br />of the methane gas could take a minimum of 1½ years to set up, go the <br />city could still have the problem for the next couple years. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said he was told by County Official A~t Dunn that he <br />didn't see how anyone could move next to a landfill and then complain <br />about it. Atty. Soucie said he hoped the council had a better <br />attitude than Mr. Dunn regarding the complaints. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said if all the tests come back perfect, he didn't know <br />where the city could go from there. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said then he would take over and take it to court. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the city wants the problem solved. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said Friday and Saturday nights the police were called <br />regarding the smell which was documented and also Art Dunn did find <br />methane gas in the house and th~was also documented. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said he felt the council had the right and constitutional <br />duty to protect the rights of its citizens. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked Attorney Soucie if he would have the doctor's report <br />for the meeting on the 15th. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said the doctor is doing a battery of tests of which he <br />hoped to have the results soon. <br /> <br />Ms. Sue Van Wagner, 15001 Ga~net St. N.W. <br /> <br />Ms. Van Wagner said a neighbor called Art Dunn first who said that his <br />equipment was locked up in his basement and he told them to close up <br />their windows and turn on their air conditioners and that it was all <br />that could be done before Monday. Ms. Van Wagner said she was concerned <br />because no one could do anything no matter how bad the situation was. <br /> <br />Atty. Soucie said he would be happy to act as spokesman for the neighbors <br />at the September 15th meeting.
