Councilman Cox said the Park Commission should take a look at the Trott Brook
area as far as soils, etc., and make a recommendation back to the Council.
He feels Trott Brook is one area the City could keep for rural asthetics as much
as possible and to preserve the low land areas as wild and that the higher land
could be used for something such as horseback riding etc.

Councilman Reimann commented that motorized vehicles will be prohibited from
using the ditches, etc., and this could be a consideration for this area.

Council's consensus is that the Trott Brook area is an area to be preserved.

The Park Commission is to thoroughly address the Trott Brook matter and then
meet with Planning and Zoning with their findings and recommendations in a
joint meeting.

LETTERS & COMMUNICATIONS

Mayor Gamec presented a Metropolitan Council letter regarding an opening on the
Solid Waste Hazard Committee. He is to contact Sue VanWagner or Sharon Wentura,
citizens in the landfill area, to see if they are interested in serving on the
Committee.

PETITION

Petition received by the City office from citizens in the area of 154th Lane
N.W. from Armstrong Boulevard N.W. to Okapi Street, requesting several 30 MPH
speed limit signs and several "Slow/Watch Out for Children" signs to be posted
along 154th Lane N.W. from Armstrong Boulevard westward and throughout the
intersection of 154th Lane N.W. and Okapi Street.

Cheryl Waterman, 8340 154th Lane N.W., was present in the audience, representing
this petition request.

Motion by Councilman Cox, seconded by Councilman Reimann to direct the
street department to install "Slow/Children" signs in the area of 154th as
recommended by the police department.

Mayor Gamec reported that Street Superintendent Mevissen is reviewing all the places
where stop signs should be and is reviewing all the petitions that have been
presented in regards to signs. This particular area is being observed quite
carefully. It appears to be a local problem, as two of the citizens on the
petition were found to be offenders themselves.

This issue was referred to Street Supt. Mevissen to review.

Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann
and Sorteberg. Voting no: None.

Cheryl Waterman asked what would be done on the stop sign.
spots, one neighbor almost killed a little girl yesterday.
situation.

There are three blind
It is a very dangerous

Mayor Gamec said he has gone out and studied the area with the Street Superintendent.

-3-
Regular City Council Meeting
6/11/79
