approximately 871 feet. <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman noted that the elevation of the site would be <br />approximately 9 feet from water. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hendriksen stated that he would like the City Engineer to <br />review the plans prior to the Airport hearing. <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman stated that he wants, adequate berm covered to protect <br />existing residences. <br /> <br />Mr. Sauer stated he would plant evergreens and fast-growing poplars. In <br />addition, the operation would not run in the winter. The berm is 5 feet <br />higher than highest point (an elevation of 890 feet); the berm would be <br />between 15-20 feet high and should be adequate. Mr. Sauer also noted that <br />the site will be graded after excavation for future industrial development. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Holm and seconded by Commissioner Howell to <br />recommend adoption of the findings of fact, amended as follows, relating to <br />Barton Sand and Gravel Company's request for a conditional use permit. <br /> <br />Item #14 should read as follows: 'That the Applicant has stated that <br />the aggregate extraction operation will be approximately 10 years in <br />duration.' <br /> <br />Item #15 should read as follows: 'That the aggregate extraction would <br />increase traffic into the area by approximately 400-500 trucks per <br />month.' <br /> <br />Item #16 should read as follows: 'That the aggregate extraction <br />operation will increase the traffic to the subject property and <br />surrounding area.' <br /> <br />Item #18 should read as follows: 'That the aggregate extraction <br />operation will be detrimental to persons residing in the vicinity of <br />such use in that the operations will generate a significant increase <br />in traffic to the area.' <br /> <br />Item #19 should read as follows: 'That the aggregate extraction <br />operation will adversely impair the enjoyment of surrounding <br />properties, especially the adjacent residential property due to <br />increased traffic to the area.' <br /> <br />Item #20 should read as follows: 'That the traffic generated by the <br />aggregate extraction operation will be disturbing for a period of time <br />to neighboring uses.' <br /> <br />Item #24 should read as follows: 'That the aggregate extraction <br />operation will not involve activities that will be detrimental to <br />persons or property in the vicinity.' <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Zimmerman, Commissioners Holm, <br />Hendriksen and Howell. Voting No: None.
