Councilman Reimann stated that he didn't feel the City should be in-
volved in paying overtime in this case to a department head. He further thought
that in this instance it should have been brought to the Personnel Committee's
attention before the Chief of Police performed the overtime if he wanted to be
paid for it and at that time the Personnel Committee would have made a decision
on it.

Councilman Sorteberg stated he felt that in this particular unique case, the
City should pay 'the overtime, as the City has been reimbursed by the insurance
company for the said overtime and the City was not supposed to.be making money
off an insurance claim and in this particular case they would have if they would
not pay the Chief of Police for the overtime performed.

Personnel Committee
May 25, 1982
