He said he
received a call from a concerned citizen regarding the traffic on Dysprosium. He noted he spoke
with the Police Chief who said they could put out a speed trailer in the spring. The Police Chief
also offered to increase patrols in the area as time permitted.
Chairperson Riley noted there were speed bumps in the street at one time, which did not affect
traffic. He said he agrees with the suggestion of a speed trailer and increased patrols.
Motion by Councilmember Johns, seconded by Councilmember Shryock, to approve staff
recommendation to work with the Police Department to schedule placement of the speed trailer
in the area, and increased olice presence as schedules permit.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Councilmembers Johns and Shryock. Voting
No: None.
6. COMMITTEE / STAFF INPUT
Engineer Westby stated the signal systems on Armstrong Boulevard will remain as they are until
the signal at the end of the westbound Highway 10 exit ramp is operational. The signals seem to
be working fine for the time being.
Public Works Superintendent Riemer announced the skating rink warming houses will likely be
closing toward the end of the week. The ice is getting rough. The rinks can still be used, but the
warming houses will be closed and the ice will no longer be maintained.
Councilmember Shryock relayed a question from a resident in the Ramsey Market area. There
are concerns about crossing Ramsey Boulevard in this area. Councilmember Shryock asked
whether crosswalk improvements could be considered in this area.
Public Works Superintendent Riemer explained that any crosswalk improvements would need to
be approved by Anoka County.
Councilmember Shryock noted with potential changes in the area due to further development of
The COR in the future, and since Ramsey Market may develop into something different, any
improvements made at this point should not be too expensive.
Public Works Committee/February 16, 2016
