Minutes CASE #18: <br /> <br />DISCUSS 167TH AVENUE NW SPEED ZONING <br /> By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In response to my letters of May 8, 1987 and June 5, 1987 to Mr. Joel Katz, <br />District 5 Traffic Engineer, requesting a speed study on 167th Avenue NW and a <br />safety study of the T. H. No. 47 and 167th Avenue NW intersection, I have <br />finally received a reply dated July 16, 1987. In that reply Mr. Ka3z is <br />recommending retention of the 50 m.p.h, speed limit on 167th Avenue NW. In <br />reply to the safety of the 167th Avenue NW and T. H. No. 47 intersection, Mr. <br />Katz indicated that street lighting could be installed by the City of Ramsey, <br />however, signalization did not appear to be warranted. <br /> <br />Mr. Katz indicated that the State would install white on green intersection <br />signing as you approach 167th Avenue NW and he recommended that Ramsey install <br />a "stop ahead" sign on 167th Avenue NW. Crosswalks and sidewalks could also be <br />considered by the City. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your information are copies of my May 8, 1987 and June 5, 1987 <br />letters and Mr. Katz's letter of July 16, 1987. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Based on Mr. Katz's recommendation, I would recommend that the City install a <br />"stop ahead" sign on 167th Avenue NW and a street light at the intersection of <br />167th Avenue NW and T. H. No. 47. I have checked with Auoka Electric <br />Cooperative on installing a street light and they will install and maintain a <br />street light for approximately $20 per month. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Direct City Staff to take the necessary steps to install a "stop ahead" <br />sign on 167th Avenue NW and a street light at the intersection of 167th <br />Avenue NW and T. H.
