For example, 49.9% of the region'o total Need
lies in the 0Y6-30Y6 band; this iothe starting point for all communities. In Chanhassen,
where the share of existing affordable units in this band is lower than average, the
adjustment io+7.7Y6, which yields an adjusted share of57.5Y6. In Maplewood, where
the share of existing affordable units in this band is about average, the adjustment is very
small, which yields an adjusted share of 49.6% (close to the average share). The final
shares, in Column O. reflect benohrnarkingto attain the regional Need in each band.
Table B-5:Ca|cuationofShares for Band Breakdown
Chanhassen
Maplewood
"Equal ' each band '
mmbelow ao%mw|
31mto50% ofxm|
I.Adjusted share of
(6) jifflocation to place
Adjustment from in band
51mtoe0mofxm|
mmbelow 00%mw|
o1v6tono%ofAM] '
51mto80% ofxm|
Share of
allocation to
place in band
* Step 3.-Am)lvthe shares from Step 2k/the total allocation from Part 2.
In this otep, we use these shares (Column O of Table B-5\ to break the total allocation
developed in Step ofPart 2 into the bands of affordability.
The resulting allocations in each band, shown below in Table B-6, address the differences
in affordability within the set ofaffordable units in each community while maintaining
the total 8||0o8ti0n that addresses the differences in affordability (8S well as job/worker
balance) across communities.
Appendices
