Zmoact Of =~
~_.e Prouosed Acuicn

Short-term impacts of the proposed action will be the loss of
vegetation cover during grading operations, potential ercsicn
during the construction and turf establis.hment pericd, and the
noise associated with construction activity. The project can
also be expected to increase the level of truck traffic on Waco
street and Highway 47 during the construction period. The entry
to che park off of Waco, hcwever, is situated prior to the
beginning of the adjoining residential area. The design,
ccnstructi3n specifications and the work schedule will minimize
these impacts as discussed in the previous sections.

Longer term impacts directly resulting from this project may be a
minute loss of flood plain capacity due to any fill which wcu!d
be required ~ ~
~o~ the facilities. This is expected =o be a nominal
amount with quantities and alternatives being developed in tke
design phase. Additional impaCts resulting from this project are
likely to be an increase in vo~ ~ ~ .
~v..=cu~a_ traffic near the Dark
environs as a result of more park users and an increase in
neighborhood noise levels due to noise generated by park users.
Both of these would appear to be acceptable and can further be
mitigated through adequate provision of parking areas and
screening or buffering intensive use areas from nearby
residences.

Long-term, positive benefits are provided by this project due to
the development of badly needed athletic facilities within the
City.
