PRIMARY CONTACT PERSON <br /> <br />VI. <br /> <br />The primary contact person for the City's solid waste abatement <br />programs is Anne Norris, Community Development Director. <br /> <br />PROPOSED 1988 ABATEMENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br />As is evident by the proposed abatement goals for the City, a <br />multi-faceted program is necessary to achieve significant waste <br />reduction. The program emphasis thus is based on three key <br />elements as follows: <br /> <br />1. Education and information <br /> Records and monitoring <br />3. Reduction or recycling of hazardous wastes and large <br /> volume material (i.e., brush and wood, yard wastes, <br /> newspaper, metals and glass) <br /> <br />Work Plan 1988 <br /> <br />The proposed work plan for 1988 is: <br /> <br />1. Information and Education <br /> <br />The City has printed numerous but periodic articles in <br />the "Ramsey Resident", a monthly publication for all <br />city residents. A column addressing solid waste issues <br />including abatement programs will be initiated on a <br />regular basis beginning in January of 1988. <br /> <br />A concerted and on-going education program will be <br />undertaken with particular emphasis on: <br /> <br />Programs in co~unity schools aimed at inforr.~ation <br />and participating activities. <br /> <br />b) ~eed to reduce solid waste generation. <br /> <br />c) N==d to abate ~=~ ~ through recyc!in~, <br /> compostin~ and reuse of materials. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Community programs and facilities available to <br />residents. ~ <br /> <br />e) <br /> <br />Highlighting special programs and events such as <br />721B week, neighborhood wood and brush control, <br />paint exchange, an~ similar efforts through <br />multimedia advertisements, speakers and <br />informaticna! articles. <br /> <br />ESucation cf staff and landfill com~issicn members <br />dealing witk abatement programs, recycling and <br />attaining greater public invo!vemen~ in such <br />programs. <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />
