This effort will be accomplished through direct mailing <br />of pertinent info.--mation to residents, periodic <br />advertisements for key events or recycling <br />opportunities in area newspapers, radio stations, and <br />on local cable access channels. The effort will <br />further be supported through support to local civic <br />organizations currently involved with or interested in <br /> e~or=s. <br />new recycling ~ + <br /> <br />The formulation and development of this <br />inforTnation/education effort shall be the <br />responsibility of the Landfill Commission which shall <br />detail its recommendations to the City Council no later <br />than March 22, 1988. <br /> <br />The antiCipated budget for this effort is $9,000. <br /> <br />Keep America Beautiful <br /> <br />The City Council authorized (November, 19S7) the <br />expenditure of $625.00 to match the Ramsey Jaycees' <br />funds for the one time certification fee by Keep <br />America Beautiful, Inc., a national non-profit <br />organization. An annual fee of $125 is also re~.~uired <br />for administrative costs. The major emphasis of this <br />program is to educate the public on waste generation, <br />litter and recycling in addition to generating local <br />support on volunteer ac~v_~!es in come, unity waste <br />programs. It is recommended that the city also expend <br />the necessary funds to send the City's representatives <br /> ~h.s region in <br />to the next F~z.B training seminar %~ithin ~ ~ <br />order to get this pro,ram up and running in i988 if the <br />required nu~er of cities do not ~oin the program <br />a__o~n~ representatives to conauct a local <br />~-={~ orocram.
