A concerted effort
could be directed, however, to infol-ming residents of
the benefits of yard composting. The goals set forth
for composting represent a relatively large volume of
waste material. The City, however, has virtually no
information on the amount of yard waste currently being
fan,fi!led by residents. It is reasonable to assume.
however, that it is a much smaller portion than that
typical of an urban city with standard city lots.

A primary effort needs to be made to develop adeq~ate
information to portray the existing status and flow of
yard waste. This could be done by survey in con-
junction with the semi-annual tree inspection surveys.

A pilot program for neighborhood composting should be
considered. A neighborhood group in Autumn Heights is
interested in neighborhood park improvements. This
group has also expressed interest in a neighborhood
compost project located in the park.

m~ ~=4cre,,,o~ ..... ~={s in uhis orocram area n-~ be
education and possible development of smaller
neighborhood comoost~ ~De~a~!o~(s)~ ~ ~' ~ . ~.~e est!mated'
~~~' for 198~ ~ ¢~ ~00
Curb. side Reeve!iht
The Ci:v %'i!i e-ca!uaue :he. fe~~:'~.~'.'=,=~_~=._~. .cf urn,.--'<
curbsid= ...... ~ ~ ~ ~ areas
_e ....... c 'he urban residen~i~
.he City. ~ uresent, tkis ~i_!,t inc
- c~ !ude two m~cr
subdivisions, Rivers Bend and F!in~%'ood w~
potential ccrblne~ tct~l cf over 300 hemes.
