their needs. Mr. Barnes stated that the City s?ould adopt safety zonf::g to
protect the airport that has been th~ r sit,ce ~973.

Gregory DuChene - 16571 Zirconium - Stated that he ::. g pilot and utilizies
Gatcvay. Stated that zoning should be adopted b~ cause everybody is
concerned for the safety ef property around the aipo~'n and the pilots.

Charle~ Soderholm - Stated he doesnft live in Ramsey but he owns a business
here and originally located here because his business does have an
airplane and Ramsey's calling card was the airport. An airport is a
benefit to a business. Noted that nobody knows the reasons for the
accidents at Crystal but only one of them would have been serious had there
been safety zoning in place such as Ramsey is proposing tonight. Fear of
airplanes falling on homes should come from inaction rather than action on
the proposed zoning ordinance.

Judy Brown - 16645 223rd Avenue - Big Lake - Stated she is a private pilot
considering continuing training (training that ~osts $5,000 per pilot) at
Gateway and in favor of airport zoning. She is also a member of the 99's
which is an international organization of women pilots that do lifesaving
flights and has pilots based at Gate~'~y. ~oted that she is also employed
at Gateway and fee.~s it is important for the com:~unity to have airport
zoning.

Ken Patz- Stated he does not live in Ramsey but he is the Department of
Aviation Chairman at the AVTI which has had teaching facilities at Gateway
since 1976. He has a pilot's license and has been involved in.aviation for
21 years during which time he has observed many meetings regarding airport
zoning ordinances in many communities. Adopting zoning is essential for
~afety reasons and to show the seriousness of developing the airport if the
city is going to march forwad in developing. Airport improvements are
important to the community and it will create more jobs; airports do bring
business into an area.

Steve Kerr - Coon P~pids - Stated he is in favor of airport zoning and
believes there is the potential for it to prohibit expansion of the
sanitary landfill. Stated that there is also a search going cn for
property on which to loca[e a second metro airport to accommodate most
fraight flights coming i= and
sites being considered would make Gateway an approazh oattern for that
facility; adoption cf zoning would make that site a difficult choice
because of clear zones in the air.

Ce, ...........
