Preliminary approval of a $40,000 grant was received for River's Bend Park,
and remainder of the funds will be tax increment funds and $4, t00 from
park funds. Chairman Lichter commented they should plan form sortie funds
for each additional year. Chairman L$chter requested Anne Norris and Merlin
Otto to draw up a 5 year plan, including funds needed.

Other park improvements included a picnic table at Ford Brook park, $5,000
per year for general park equipment at various parks, bleachers, storage and
announcing stand.

Commission discussed trail acquisition and 5 year plan. The City Council
decides to either purchase land or condemnation of land. The Commission
may need $50,000 per year for land acquisition. Anne Norris will provide
additional information at next meeting. Motion by Commissioner Shumway,
seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to place this on agenda at October
meeting for review.

CASE 2: Review proposed trail corridors.

Merlin Otto made a presentation on trail corridors. In the following
discussion was was determined that trails are needed East-West, and also
to go to the Elementary School. Commissioner Stnumway reouested horse
trails around Northfork, indicating the Commission could still acquire land
on the west half of Northfork and these would tie in with regional trails.
Merlin Otto suggested the Commission look for links between the parks and
also id6ntify trail uses for each segment, and also obtain right of ways
before areas are development. North-South trails are also needed: such as
along Hwy, 47. if ditches ~re wide enough, perhaps wide sidewalks c~uid b~
used.

Comprshens~ue Para Pl,,.. as -~. ,n,~-.~,,,-.,

of M,.
