Councilmember Riley asked for additional information on funding.
Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama stated that after the land
transaction took place there were some upfront costs that were paid for and explained how the
land proceeds and Anoka County HRA funds would come into play.
The consensus of the Council was to move ahead with the three-part staff recommendation
included in the staff report.
2.03: 2016 Ramsey Citizen Survey
Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama reviewed the staff report.
Mayor Strommen returned to the meeting.
Councilmember Kuzma commended Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager
Brama on the thorough presentation.
Councilmember LeTourneau stated that the items that were shown as concerns are items that the
City has identified in the Strategic Plan and asked if perhaps the residents were not aware of that.
Councilmember Shryock stated that perhaps the residents are aware but the process is just taking
longer than expected and therefore education would come into play.
Mayor Strommen stated that this presentation was very helpful and noted that this information
can be used by the Council when making decisions and planning for the future as well as for
comparisons in the future.
Councilmember LeTourneau stated that there are a lot of things already in place to change the
image of the City and discussions could occur as to how to enhance that image further.
3. TOPICS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION
3.01: Review Future Topics/ Calendar
Councilmember Kuzma stated that he has concerns regarding the Andrie Street project. He
stated that there is an issue with sprinklers, noting that there has been some contention between
the contractor and residents. He stated that the City has promised to deliver on that item but has
not been able to.
Mayor Strommen left the meeting.
Councilmember Kuzma stated that the City has stated that they will replace sprinkler heads but
noted that they are located in the right-of-way and he would like a policy in place that would
specify that the City will not replace sprinkler heads that have been placed in the right-of-way.
City Council Work Session / August 23, 2016
Page 4 of 6
