Section II <br /> <br />THE ATHLETIC FACILITIES GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />Eligible Applicants <br /> <br />Eligible applicants include cities, counties, towns, and special park districts or elected <br />park or recreation boards in cities of the first class. Recognized indian Tribal <br />governments may become eligible for this program, contingent upon legislative action. <br /> <br />Eligible Projects: <br /> <br />Development of eligible athletic facilities on land owned by the applicant. <br /> <br />Eligible Facilities <br /> <br />Eligible facilities include.' <br /> <br />' Baseball and/or softball fields <br />· Soccer and/or football fields <br />· Outdoor skating/hockey rinks <br />· Tennis courts <br />· Volleyball courts (hard surface) <br />· Basketball courts <br />· Goal posts <br />· Signs (informational~ safety, funding acknowledgement) <br />· Park roads <br />· Parking areas (gravel only) <br />· Landscaping (seeding, sodding, tree/shrub planting) <br />· Site improvement (grading, filling, demolition, clearing) <br />· Fencing (athletic, safety fencing) <br />· Lighting (athletic facilities, security lighting) <br />· Design and engineering (up to I0% of total pro{ecl cost) <br /> <br />Ineligible Facilities <br /> <br />The following facilities are not considered essential to the athletic facilities grant <br />program and, therefore, cannot be funded. Ineligible facilities include the following: <br /> <br />· Basketball nets <br />· Scoreboards <br />· Bases, balls, bats <br />· Benches and seats <br />· Picnic tables <br />· Play. ground or game equipment <br />· Spectator seating of any kind <br />· Trash receptacles <br />· Dugouts for ballfields <br />· Concession buildings <br />· Toilet buildings <br />· Shower buildings <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br /> <br />
