Mr. Bruce Jacobson discussed the East Town Center Park plans with the Commission and Council. Councilmember Cook asked how big the amphitheater will be. Mr. Bruce Jacobson stated it would be around forty feet across. Commissioner Shryock asked how hard it would be to maintain the small lawn areas. Mr. Olson stated they talked to various people and one of the suggestions made was if they went with concrete seats, they put a concrete ribbon under it so they could mow the area easier. Councilmember Kurak asked if there would be lighting in the area. Mr. Bruce Jacobson stated they are suggesting the combination trail be lit throughout the entire park and they may use specialty lighting for the amphitheater. , Mr. Bruce Jacobson continued reviewing the park with the commission and Council. The Commission recessed at 9:15 p.m. The Commission reconvened at 9:20 p.m. Case//4: C.I.P. Process Civil Engineer II Linton explained staffhas always determined the C.I.P. projects. The C.I.P. is compiled in November then ratified by the Council. Commissioners have expressed an interest in participating in the C,I.P. process. Candidate projects identified by the Commissioners should be forwarded to Staffby the end of August so that they can be discussed at a meeting prior to assembly of the C.I.P. Mr. Olson stated the C.I.P. process helps them to look at the C.I.P. in all aspects. Chairperson Johns stated this is a nice tool for the Park Commission to have on hand. Commissioner Ostrum wondered if this would give them enough time. Mr. Olson stated ideally what they had planned to do next year; they are still going to do that next year. Chairperson Johns stated it is helpful for the Commission to know what things are coming up and what has moved around in the plan. COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT Civil Engineer II Linton explained on Rivenwick 4th, they approved the plan and some situations on the site where the builder did not want to take the entire site; they cut out the northeast comer so the total park dedication fees will be less and they are still moving ahead. Chairperson Johns asked with allocating the fifty percent to Town Center, will it leave them enough for the park improveme,',,ts within the development. Civil Engineer 117 Linton stated it should.
