THE PLAN

Before any local decisions can be made regarding public sewers, the
Metropolitan I~aste Control Commission will have to complete its 208 Study.
Because of the substantial public investment which is being made along
the Coon Rapids Pool for park and recreation facilities, increasing the
capacity of the Anoka Treatment Plan should be viewed with great concern.
Regarding private sewage systems, both Champlin and Ramsey have ordinances
governing private sewage systems which were adopted within the last

3 years, and these regulations are sufficient to minimize potential pollution
problems.

Within Champlin, Anoka and Ramsey there are no major transmission lines
corridors nor are there any plans for such. As power demands increase,
there will be the need for additional crossings and utility companies
should be encouraged to use submarines where that is possible or existing
corridors, rather than creating new crossings.

The issue of storm water drainage was discussed earlier in the report in
the section on natural water courses. As indicated earlier in the report
the communities should complete a comprehensive Storm Water Runoff Plan prior
to any development within a watershed and identify important wetlands and
drainage ways which deserve protection.

S9

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
!
