Recreatior~tl Resource <br /> <br />~is develotment will occur on a 1,200 acre parcel of open space in <br />the City. ~he City's clevelol~ent eontrols require developers to meet <br />with the City's Park and Recreation Commission to determine a park <br />dedication either in the form of a financial contribution to the <br />City's park fund or a land donation to be included in the City's park <br />system. ~ne developers have met with the Park and Recreation <br />Coa~ission and have agreed that due to the nature of Lake Itasca, <br />there will be no public access to the lake. ~l~e Commission and <br />developers will continue to discuss the possibility of future limited <br />public use of the develol~nent in the form of a trail system to be <br />integrated with the City's overall park plans. <br /> <br />I~sue: ~l~e effect of develol~nent of or around Lake Itasca on the <br />recreational resources in the area. <br /> <br />G. ISildiife Babitat <br /> <br />~l~is develol~ent is proposed to occur on allxoximately 1,250 acres of <br />land. ~l~e developers are proposing to leave approximately 566 acres <br />(about 45%) of the site as open space. Virtually all of t~he wildlife <br />habitats in shorelands, wetlands and flood plain areas will not be <br />altered. <br /> <br />I~ue: ~ne impact on wildlife due to development and related <br />actions. <br /> <br />R. hrcheological and Bistorical Sites <br /> <br />~here may be significant archeological or historical resources on the <br />site. ~l~e site is currently being surveyed for any archeologically or <br />historically significant sites as specified by the I4innesota <br />liistorical Society. <br /> <br />Issue: Survey the area for the presence of unreported <br />arc~eologi cal/'histor ical resources. <br /> <br /> <br />
