Councilmeaber Reimann <br />stated that at the January 9 COuncil meeting it was brought out by Chief Aus~os <br />that Ramsey has t~o officers on duty seven days a week fromm 6:30 p.m. to 3..00. <br />a.m. Councilmember Reimann stated that he feels t~o officers on duty during <br />the evening hours is ~ot necessary 7 days a week and questioned when and hc~ <br />this policy was established. <br /> <br />Mr. Rartley replied that he would seek an explanation to the t~o officer <br />coverage 7 nights a week and report back to Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg stated that he is in favor of recommending a 3.8% cost <br />of living increase for Chief Auspos. <br /> <br />Refer to page 3 of these minutes for further action regarding Chief Auspos' <br />request for cost of living increase. <br /> <br />Personnel Co~ittee proceeded to discuss wage rates for pert time wamirg house <br />and rink attendants. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated that part time workers at the Anoka Ice Arena are <br />earning $4.50 to $5.00 per hour and based on that, Ramsey's rate of $4.75 is <br />very fair. <br /> <br />Personnel C_n,~_ ittee directed Mr. Hartley and Mr. Graczyk to prepare job <br />descriptions for rink attendants with general and supervisory classifications <br />being oompensated at a rate of $4.50 and $4.75 respectively. If in fact the <br />duties currently performed by Carol Sather include added responsibilities such <br />as rink coordination, that a third classification be created at a c~mpensation <br />rate of $5.00/hour. Councilmember Reimann also suggested that Staff meet with <br />Carol Sather regarding rink nccds and rink attendant responsibilities. <br /> <br />~he Personnel C(m~ittee proceeded to discuss part time wages for Streets/Parks, <br />Snowplow Driver and Snowplow Wing Driver. ~e current salary rates were <br />reviewed and the oonsensus of the Personnel Committee was that the rates <br />are sufficient. <br /> <br />A brief general discussion ensued and Mr. Graczyk suggested that a policy be <br />established identifying all city positions and a base beginning salary for <br />each. <br /> <br />Councilme~ber Reimann stated that he made an at,pt at a base beginning salary <br />procedure when an officer was being hired but it was prohibited by the police <br />contract. <br /> <br />Mr. [{artley stated that in future police contract negotiations he will be sure <br /> February 6, 1986 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
