Norris stated that EDC has recommended that the City pursue Star City <br />designation with herself as project coordinator. It is a lengthy process of <br />assessing the community's strengths and weaknesses and requires a full <br />conmit=ent from staff and community leaders. Nr. Bartley stated that the real <br />benefit to the process is that in the end, the persons involved with it viii <br />have learned the skills and information to encourage and assist business <br />develop~nent within the comnmnity. Councilsember Cox stated that he sees this <br />progra~ as another effort towards socialized business; if the business climate <br />were addressed, we would not need programs like this.
