Commissioner Shu~way stated that he doubts Mr. Knudson will be able to store the 5 trucks, 2 bobcats, farm tractor, etc. in a 44' x 60' pole building. Commissioner Iie~drtksen stated that this C~,,ission has to make a decision as to whether or not all of these items can be stored in the pole building and if not, a decision has to be made as to whether or not a~other on-going liability will be created for the City. _~__ issioner Bendriksen stated that he doesn't feel that the fact that there is an existing pole barn at this location should enter into the decision. Motion by (k~missioner Hendriksen and seconded by Ommissioner $humway to recc~.nd denial of Mr. Wayne Knudson's request for a conditional use permit to operate his cement contracting business fr~m his home at 15401 Armstrong Blvd. Motion failed. Voting Yes: Commissioners Shumway, Hendriksen and Howell. Voting No: Chairman ~eterson, Om~iesioners Zi~merman, Deemer and LaDue. Motion by O~missioner LaDue and seconded by {bmmissioner De~mer to reo~ approval of Mr. Wayne Knudson's request for a conditional use permit to operate his cement contracting business from his home at 15401 Armstrong Blvd. contingent upon Mr. Knudson entering into a conditional use permit agreement with the City. Further Discussion: Commissioner ~--mer noted that Mr. Knudson has been above board regarding his int~ded use of the pole building and is attempting to operate legally, unlike many other situations in Ramsey. Cim~issioner LaDue stated that Mr. Knudson's application should be taken in good faith and judgement should not be made based on past problems in the neighborhood. Co~missioner Sh~m~ay questioned how the (~ission can consider reoomme~ng approval when no public spoke out in favor of the request. Chairman Peterson stated he thinks the public was under the assu~pt/on that a 'cement ~ontracting' would be comparable to a (~r~ent ready-mix business. Gommissioner LaDue stated that he doesn't see any of Mr. Knudson's operation being detrimental to neighboring property owners. Ms. Norris stated that with respect to sufficient space being provided for storage of eguiI~ent with the existing pole building, Mr. Knudson can add on additional acoessory structure space up to the maxim~ limits, but that additional space cannot be used for company vehicles. Commissioner LaDue noted that the fact the accessory structure already exists did not enter into his decision to make this motion. Motion carried.
