Absents (Im~tssioners Vevea <br />and Fultso <br /> <br />b) Economicmnd Financ~ - <br /> <br />No report at this time. <br /> <br />c) PubliGlty_- <br /> <br />Co~ssion noted that article prepared by the Publicity Subcommittee for <br />publication in the May Tri-City Newsletter. <br /> <br />The Commission again discussed the possibility of using landfill trust fund <br />money for economic development purposes and Cc~ssioner Rardinvolunteered to <br />prepare a letter regarding that same possibility to be forwarded to the <br />Landfil Ad Hoc (km~ittee. <br /> <br />Cas~_ 12: Di~SSiOIk Re~arding Ta~etin~ Certain Areas Fo~_ ~velo~m~lt: <br /> <br />(k~ssioner Cox stated that Council, at their special meeting of May 7, <br />launched the first step in establishing a tax increment program in Ramsey. <br />C~ssioner Cox stated that he feels that tax increment financing could be <br />used for t.hat area along Hwy. %10; he is also hopeful that tax increment <br />financing can be used for a community center that would not be a cost burden <br />to the city. (l~issioner Cox stated that Mr- Lyle McLaughlin was at the May <br />7 Council meeting and reported that negotiations are in the final stages for a <br />shopping oenter on the Cutter property along Hwy. %10; Ramsey should use tax <br />increment financing to tie in with the develo~t that shopping center will <br />bring in. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg stated that in his opinion, economic develol~ent should be <br />reviewed with Planning and Zoning Co~ssion; there should be heavy and light <br />industrial and commercial areas targeted with and without municipa_l services. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that Planning and Zoning is currently in the process of <br />recodification and they have a work session scheduled for May 21 to discuss <br />oo~ercial and industrial areas. <br /> <br />Motion by O~ssioner Cox and seconded by Commissioner Muller to direct that <br />EDC members Wagner, Muller, Miller and Bardin attend the May 21 work session <br />meeting regarding concerns in commercial/industrial zoning. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
