Commissioner Stauffer referred to Metro Council's concern regarding Gateway's <br />expandabil ity and inquired if anybody really would want an airport that had the <br />capability to expand. <br /> <br />fhairman Ippel stated that the major ooncern contained in the written comments <br />received focus on property valuation, subdivision capability in Safety Zone B, <br />safety hazards and noise. <br /> <br />Mr. Otto distributed copies of noise level tables from another report not <br />associated with Ramsey's Airport Master Plan; these tables are filed with the <br />master co~y of these minutes as Enclosures I and II. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel referred to safety concerns expressed and stated that people <br />fail to realize that Gateway will not be enlarged or expanded; the facility <br />would be upgraded to comply with statutes of regulatory agencies for safety <br />levels. Gateway's Zone A would be b~ice the size of that area at Crystal; the <br />purpose for these increased area sizes is for safety and noise elimination <br />purposes. Concern has been expressed regarding low flying aircraft; Gateway <br />would be utilizing a VASI syste~, a light system that tells pilots what the <br />appropriate glide slope should be for approaching the airport.
