's letter of <br />transmittal of funds dated July 16, 1985. <br /> <br />C. Recommendation From Landfill Ad Hoc Committee Regardblg <br /> Local Recycling. Compo_ sting And Waste Reduction Programs - <br /> <br />Mr. Steve DeLuca of the Landfill Ad Hoc Committee was p~esent and <br />stated that what is included in the Council agenda is the Landfill <br />O~,~,,ittee's recor~nendation for a recycling program; if Council <br />adopts the plan, it must be sutmitted to the County by October 10, <br />1985 in order for Ramsey to qualify for County recycling funds. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilm~ber Cox and seconded by Councilme~ber Reimann <br />to adopt the Landfill Ad HOC Committee's rec~nended Waste <br />Reduction Program and to forward that plan to Anoka County as <br />Ramsey ' s Aba~ent Project. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Mayor Heitman inquired if the Landfill <br />(k~mittee has given any oonsideration to location, monitoring and <br />maintenanoe oosts associated with collecting glass. Mr. DeLuca <br />stated that the glass would only be received during monitored times <br />and the C~n~ittee still has to look into liability, insurance, etc. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Heitman, Councilma~bers COx, <br />Sorteberg, Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />D. W~ste 0il Recyclin9 - <br /> <br />Mr. DeLuca stated that the Landfill (~ittee has been considering <br />the idea of having a waste oil collection tank being located on <br />City Public Works property and the prooeeds of that operation being <br />plaoed in the City's ger~eral fund. ~e only requirements at this <br />time for collecting waste oil is that the storage tank meet City <br /> <br />Gouncilme~ber Reimann stated that the public works property is <br />cramped for space; there would also be a monitoring probl~ in that <br />people tend to dump other materials, such as gas, antifreeze and <br />cleaning solvents into that oil collection tank. <br /> <br />Gouncil consensus is that the Landfill C~Nnitt~'s suggestion is <br />reasonable but for the time being it would be best to advertise <br />and educate the public as to those waste oil collection points <br />already in the area. <br /> <br />July 29, 1985 Agenda - <br /> <br />Case #5: Engineeri~§; <br /> <br />A.
