Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann <br />and Van Wagner. Voting No: Councilmember Schlueter. <br /> <br />b) Letter From Mr. William Erhart, Attorney At Law, Dated November 6, 1984 - <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that Mr. William Erhart's client was not injured on City <br />property and he will inform Mr. Erhart of this. <br /> <br />Case #6: Settina Date For Public Hearina On City_ Long Term Financial Plan; <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to <br />set a public hearing on the City's Long Term Financial Plan for 7:00 p.m. on <br />Tuesday, December 11, 1984 as directed by Chapter 7, Section 7.05 of the City <br />Charter. It is further directed that this notice be published in the City's <br />official newspaper. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner. Voting NO: None. <br /> <br />Qase ~7: MAM2% Joins Compensation Study Regarding Comparable Worth: <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that the comparable worth law was passed during the 1984 <br />legislative session and the purpose of the law is to ensure that employees are <br />paid oomparmble pay for comparable jobs. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that the Metro cities have decided to hire an outside <br />consultant to do the ~mmk of evaluating the jobs in regards to the law and <br />Ramsey's proportionate share of the oost could be $3,000-$5,000. Mr. Schnelle <br />reco~nended that Ramsey participate in the study. <br /> <br />Council consensus was to dispense with the reading of the proposed resolution. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Oouncilmember Schlueter to <br />adopt Resolution ~84-233 to approve of participating in the MAMA Joint <br />Compensation Study regarding "Comparable Worth Act". (Please refer to <br />resolution file for Resolution ~84-233 ). <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Reimann inquired as to the consequences if <br />Ramsey does not participate in the study. Mr. C~)odri~ replied that it is to <br />the City's benefit to participate in the study; not participating could open <br />Ramsey up to lawsuits and substantial liabilities. Councilmember Reimann <br />suggested that Ramsey prepare it's own study. Mr. Berg stated that it has <br />been recommended that cities not prepare their own study; that the study would <br />be considered biased. Mr. Schnelle reaffirmed that the cap on the cost of the <br />study is $5,000. Councilmember Van Wagner amended the motion to include that <br />Ramsey's proportionate share of the (Dst of the study not exceed $5,000. <br />Councilm~r Schlueter seconded the amendment to the motion. <br /> <br />Page 16 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
