! <br />! <br /> <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />Committee Meeting Minutes Dated December 6, 1984 - <br /> <br />Council noted. <br /> <br />Q[aft~.o_r~? ~ _._Metro Council's Prorosed Solid Was.te_Manao~ment <br /> Develo_~nent l~uide Polic~ _Plan: .... <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that this doc~nent is in the formative stages and there <br />is a real opportunity here to exert some influence on the report regarding <br />this City's ooncerns; Mayor Heitman suggested that an ad hoc congnittee be <br />appointed to follow up on this issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that 3 years ago be moved that a landfill committee <br />be formed made up of citizens; the City advertised for members and and not one <br />person applied. <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that in lieu of the document being prepared, this oould <br />be the first time the citizens can have an effect. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox warned against getting too hopeful that Ramsey's input will <br />have some influence. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman agreed and stated that doing nothing guarantees nothing. <br />Mayor Heitman continued that Council, citizens and staff must be used as <br />effectively as possible; that he is willing to attend meetings where his <br />attendance will be effective but one person should not be expected to handle <br />the entire load. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schlueter suggested that Staff and Council review the document <br />prior to the January 22, 1985 Council meeting; at this point in time, persons <br />can be designated to give the issue i~=diate attention. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that Staff is in the process of reviewing the document and <br />preparing a statement; after Staff is completed with their review, a citizens <br />committee can be appointed to review the document -- this way the citizens <br />would have something to start with. Mr. Schnelle stated that Staff review of <br />the document will be completed by January 22, 1985. <br /> <br />Council consensus is that formation of an ad hoc landfill committee will be <br />included in the January 22 Council agenda. <br /> <br />Doug Fountain - Stated better publicity is needed in order to form committees; <br />he was not aware of an attempt to form a landfill committee 3 years ago until <br />May of 1984. <br /> <br />Council recessed at 8:55 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman called the meeting back to order at 9:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Reimann requesting <br />that any citizens concerned with the landfill issue and interested in serving <br />on the ad hoc committe contact City Hall at 427-1410; further that the <br />formation of this committee be advertised in the Anoka County Union and the <br />Shopper; further that reporter Angela Flint make note of this ad hoc committee <br /> <br /> Page 12 <br /> <br /> <br />
