Co~nissioner
Greenberg stated that in a recent meeting with EDC chairmen from Anoka,
Andover and (3~amplin, it was brought out in discussions that Ramsey is the
only city with industrial area left to be developed. Commissioner Greenberg
stated that if this area is ~1o longer intended for oor~rcial and industrial
develo~ent, then the land can be sold to homebuilders.

(~airman Ippel stated that the commercial/industrial develolx0ent is necessary
in order for it to be eoor~mically feasible for people to live in Ramsey.

fk~missioner Larsen stated that this Commission cannot make the assumption to
have industrial growth; that direction has to come from City Council.

Commissioner Sieber stated that he would not be opposed to Council placing
some zoning restrictions on the subject area to protect what has been invested
should a decision be made and the Airport Master Plan implemented.
(Jommissioner $ieber stated that this Airport Commission should inform City
Council that in order for the airport to be a financially feasible project,
the City will have to make a commitment to become a full service city and
promote growth in the
fhairman..Ip~'"~d that this same question should go to the Eco~'-~~
Devel.o~0<ent...... Con~ission prior to City Council. ~-

~t]on by Commissioner $ieber and seoonded by Commissioner Erickson that the
×/following statement and question be placed on the March meeting agenda for the
\
// Economic Develo[~ent Commission and on the second Tuesday in March meeting
/ agenda for Council: 'Based upon studies and information gained thus far, the
~ Airpor_t Commission position is that airport develol~men.t is dependent upon
[ Ramsey's oommih~ent to balanced industrial and commercial develol~ent in the
City. Is this,, in fact, Ramsey's direction?'
//
~Motion carried. Voting Yes: (3%alrman Ippel, (Jo~nissioners Sieber, Larsen~,~..--'/

'February 20, 1985

...........
