Raattkka rep3ied that acoordtng to City policy, if ~eone petition~ for <br />sewez and water and if it must run past an existing neighborhood, the <br />petitioner is responsible for all of the ousts until that existing <br />neighborhood petitions for ¢ewer and water and hooks up t.o t. he line. <br /> <br /> I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Rehbein - Why then is Ramsey Terrace being included in the Storm Drainage <br />Improv~ent Project ~84-177 <br /> <br />l~ayor Beitman replied that the criteria for determining benefitted property <br />c~mers has been set by State lmm. <br /> <br />Bob Schwartz - Will we be forced to participate in the watershed storm <br />drainage project if we go with paved streets in Ramsay Terrace? <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka replied that the City is trying to maintain the existing drainage <br />in the area; part of Ramsay Terrace drains towards the County dit(~h and this <br />will be discussed at the ptiblic hearing following this one. <br /> <br />Mr. Berg stated that m of Ramsay Terrace is included in the watershed <br />district; at some pDint in time everybody will be in a watershed district and <br />everyone will o~ntribute to solving all the storm drainage problems in the <br />City; paved streets contributes slightly tn the drainage problem. <br /> <br />Councilm~vber Cox stated that rural cross section type street construction <br />reduces the ~ount of water you need to find proper drainage for. <br /> <br />J~mes Overtoo~ - 14121 Iodine - ~, an engineer and agree with Councilm~r <br />Cox's previous statement. Also stated that in the last taeo years the culvert <br />on the east side of Iodine has not passed any water into the drainage district <br />and therefore is not contributing to the drainage problem. <br /> <br />Councilm~r Cox stated that the Eoonomic Develounent C~ssion has <br />initiated a request for Council to publish a position statement regarding <br />sewer and water. Council has no desire to extend sanitary se~er and water <br />to an area where there is no problem; Council has done everything to <br />disoourage it. <br /> <br />Duane Lundeen - Do want blactopped stxeets, but don't want to pay for it again <br />in a couple of years because of sewer and water installation.
