F
s
December 2, 2016
Page 2
chickens and pig housed on the property were not allowed pursuant to the
Northfork Rules and Regulations. The Harers have yet to comply with the
Governing Documents of Northfork. By way of additional information, you will
note from the correspondence submitted by the Harers with their request for
Non-Traditional Domesticated Animal License they indicate that they were not [;
aware that pigs were not allowed on property that is less than 3 acres in size
until they discussed it with the City Planner, Chris Anderson, on November 9,
2016. I had sent correspondence to the Harers advising them of this restriction
in the Ramsey City Ordinance on November 7, 2016. A copy of that
correspondence is attached hereto as well.
The Board understands that the request being made by the Harers to the City
Council would be seeking a variance from the City Ordinance over which the
Northfork Governing Documents have no control. The Board also understands
that the City Council does not have to grant the request for a Non-Traditional
Domesticated Animal License. The Harers' property is subject to the Northfork
Governing Documents. Those documents subject the properties within
Northfork to more stringent conditions, rules and regulations than property not
within Northfork. Accordingly, the issuance of a variance to the Harers would be
of no benefit to them because of its contradictions with the Rules and
Regulations of Northfork. The Board is asking that the City Council deny the
request because of the confusion it may cause to the parties and give the Harers
the false impression that they do not have to comply with Northfork Governing
Documents and lead to further conflicts between members of Northfork and/or
the Board.
If further information is needed from me, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely
F
Mark B9 glund
ME- /rdh`
Enclosures
cc: Northfork Homeowner's Association, Inc.
