Terry Hendriksen stated that he seriously questions that the ~mount of <br />revenue generated will be as forecasted. <br /> <br />Mr. Otto stated that the mmo~t of dollars of economic benefits - not revenues - <br />forecasted as being spent by transient passengers at Gateway was estimated on a <br />very ~ number, $35/day. Gateway will also generate economic benefits <br />through recreational and proficiency use. <br /> <br />D~ve Anderson stated that be owns D.J. 's Furnace Cleaning, wh/ch is located <br />just east of Gateway's rur~ay. Mr. Anderson stated that 50% of his business <br />is out-of-State and he would prefer his clients to oome into Gateway rather <br />than International. Mr. Anderson stated that in a years time, the <br />corporations he deals with spent $50,000-$100,000 on food, lodging a~d <br />entertairsment for custcmers; sc~e of this oould come to Ramsey if Gateway <br />were improved. ~e one drawback would be the 3300' runway as most of the <br />aircraft are $~all and large Win engine. <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen inquired as to the types of approaches planned for at <br />Gateway. <br /> <br />Mr. Otto replied that both would be non-precision approaches. <br /> <br />Mr. Chuck Soderholm introduced Jack Johnson, (~ner and operator of Northland <br />Aviation. <br /> <br />Jack Johnson stated that his present operation includes 30 aircraft and it is <br />outgrowing it's facility at Crystal airport; the operation is hesitant to <br />improve it's facility because the future of Crystal is doubtful; Crystal may <br />not exist in 10 years. Mr. Johnson stated that his operation is looking to <br />relocate; Flying Cloud is full, some opportunity at Anoka (bunty but Shoreview <br />objects, St. Paul is in development stage and high test area. Mr. Johnson <br />stated that the projections for useage of Gateway are way under considering <br />Crystal is on it's way out. Mr. Johnson stated that Ramsey has a good area <br />for airport develoim~nt, which would also bring inmore develot~ent along ~y. <br />%10; people don't realize what an affect an airport has; airports acoessiblity <br />draws develol~ment just like a fr~c~ay does. Airports like Gateway are r~c~c~ed <br />and have a positive impact on the oo~unity. <br /> <br />Mr. Otto stated that the projections for Gateway do ~ot include sy~ning fr~m <br />Anoka Oounty and Crystal facilities. <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Ippel read a letter dated May 15, 1985 fr~ Mr. Mike Nallick of <br />~merican Shredded Paper G0mpany in Ramsey regarding his support of Gateway <br />North Airport develoIm~nt.
