P& Z -2- 9/5/78 Ken Peterson asked if Mr. Langos p!snned on having a sign, and he stated th~,t he would ].ike to h~ve a small one. Art Dunn questioned if there would be an increase in liquid w~ste and Mr. Langos stated that there would be no more than the occasional water color that is now being disposed of. There was no comment from the audience and the Public Hearing closed at 8:10.. Ken Peterson suggested that Mr. Langos read the sign'ordinance before placement of a sign. Motion by Ron West, seconded by Gerry Zimmerman to recom~end to the City Council to grant a conditional use permit to Louis Langos for a commercial art studio at 16926 Bison Street N.W. with the stipulations that he adhere to the sign ordinance,, and that no printing be allowed on the premiss Motion carried 7-0. Item 3. Case of Victor Mastley. Mr. Mastley' was present to explain that he didn't understand why his request for subdivision by metes and bounds had been denied by the Council. Mr. Schnelle explained that the Council wanted the parcel platted. Mr. Mastley stated that there is other property available, and this parcel is not ~he choicest, and indicated that he wants more information from the Council and Bertha Mae Smith before submitting any additional plans. Mr. Mastley stated that he was extremely sur- prised at the Councils ~ecision since they had met the requirements. Item 4. Public Hearin~ - Faith Baptist Church. Ken Peterson began the Public Hearing by explaining the purpose and asking a representative of Faith Baotist to make a presentation of their intentions. Mr. Ed I.ongfield showed a sketch plan for a new church with 220 seating capacity and off street parking for 72 vehicles. There would be a 50' gap between the restored house and the new facility. Ken Peterson asked about expected uses~ and Mr. Longfield replied that the new church would be used for Sunday whorship, Wednesday night meetings~ Sunday school, and eventually a daycare center downstairs. Ken Pet~rson next asked for questions or comments from the citizens. Bernard Wu.rm, 15354 Hematite N~W.: What plans are there for the sewer and water needs? Ed Longfield: Realizes must meet code and would accept engineers re- commen~ations. Wurm: What type of building: type of screening~ will there be a steeple, and screening and fencing on their property line? Longfield: Church setback ¥~ould be same as others on block~ construction would be block with laminated arches, no steeple~ but a small spiral on top, and screening not necessary since parking lot would be in rear yard. Wurm: Feels fencing and screening necessary. Rev. Reed: Would put up cyclone fence when funds available. Wurm: When? Ne×t month or ten years from now? Rev. Reed: Really can't say ....
