There was no comment from <br />the audience and the Public Hearing closed at 8:10.. <br />Ken Peterson suggested that Mr. Langos read the sign'ordinance before <br />placement of a sign. <br />Motion by Ron West, seconded by Gerry Zimmerman to recom~end to the <br />City Council to grant a conditional use permit to Louis Langos for <br />a commercial art studio at 16926 Bison Street N.W. with the stipulations <br />that he adhere to the sign ordinance,, and that no printing be allowed <br />on the premiss Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />Item 3. Case of Victor Mastley. <br />Mr. Mastley' was present to explain that he didn't understand why his <br />request for subdivision by metes and bounds had been denied by the <br />Council. Mr. Schnelle explained that the Council wanted the parcel <br />platted. Mr. Mastley stated that there is other property available, <br />and this parcel is not ~he choicest, and indicated that he wants more <br />information from the Council and Bertha Mae Smith before submitting <br />any additional plans. Mr. Mastley stated that he was extremely sur- <br />prised at the Councils ~ecision since they had met the requirements. <br /> <br />Item 4. Public Hearin~ - Faith Baptist Church. <br />Ken Peterson began the Public Hearing by explaining the purpose and <br />asking a representative of Faith Baotist to make a presentation of <br />their intentions. Mr. Ed I.ongfield showed a sketch plan for a new <br />church with 220 seating capacity and off street parking for 72 vehicles. <br />There would be a 50' gap between the restored house and the new facility. <br />Ken Peterson asked about expected uses~ and Mr. Longfield replied that <br />the new church would be used for Sunday whorship, Wednesday night meetings~ <br />Sunday school, and eventually a daycare center downstairs. Ken Pet~rson <br />next asked for questions or comments from the citizens. <br /> <br />Bernard Wu.rm, 15354 Hematite N~W.: What plans are there for the sewer <br />and water needs? <br /> <br />Ed Longfield: Realizes must meet code and would accept engineers re- <br />commen~ations. <br /> <br />Wurm: What type of building: type of screening~ will there be a steeple, <br />and screening and fencing on their property line? <br /> <br />Longfield: Church setback ¥~ould be same as others on block~ construction <br />would be block with laminated arches, no steeple~ but a small spiral on <br />top, and screening not necessary since parking lot would be in rear yard. <br /> <br />Wurm: Feels fencing and screening necessary. <br /> <br />Rev. Reed: Would put up cyclone fence when funds available. <br /> <br />Wurm: When? Ne×t month or ten years from now? <br /> <br />Rev.
