Public Hearing/7-10-78 <br />(Street Petitions) <br /> <br />Bob Ilstrup, 16241 Yttrium, said concerning the cost, $1000 vs $3000, he <br />would rather take the $1000 investment now instead of suburban sections <br />which are triple. He would rather be tearing up a $1000 road and if it <br />will last for 15 years, he is for it. <br /> <br />Duane Davis said there is a lot of rain this y~ar and the~ost will be <br />deep and a severe winter could cause a lot of problems with frost boils <br />in the Spring. <br /> <br />B. Ilstrup asked, won't this~fill up somebodies ditch somewhere? <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka said the only other solution would be to install storm sewers. <br /> <br />The majority of citizens present from Menkveld Country Park were' in favor of <br />the street project. A hand count vote was taken, result: 9 to 2 in favor. <br /> <br />GREENLAND HILLS ADDITION <br /> <br />Total Cost Total Units Cost Per Unit Annual Unit Cost 7%-10 <br /> <br /> $28,000 26 $1077 $1 53 $1 18 <br /> <br />Ron Miller, 15000 Zeolite - you don't know when sewer and water will go <br />through and if we put paved streets in that will be torn outlater, I am <br />in favor of waiting. <br /> <br />Irwin Geigle, 7920 1 51st Lane would like a total cost of how much his taxes <br />will go up, the project cost down the road with this, in terms of maintenance, <br />replacement, etc. <br /> <br />MRyor Cox said he discussed maintenance of blacktop streets with the street <br />superintendent and he indicated that grading, plowing, Class 5 versus <br />sealcoating, based on his past experience, he feels the costs.of maintenance <br />will be about the same. <br /> <br />Mr. Geigle said he doesn't think this will get done by this Fall, how <br />stable are these cost? What are projects costs for the summer 19797 <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka stated he talked to a contractor today and expects to <br />see a 20 percent increase next summer. <br /> <br />Mr. Geigle asked if we have trucks regulated so the streets will not be <br />disrupted. <br /> <br />Answer: The County roads are posted now. <br /> <br />Tom Falck, 152nd Lane asked, if they don't start in September, will we still <br />pay the costs of the bid given for this summer. <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka replied, yes. <br /> <br />Ron Miller, 1 5000 Zeolite asked if any comparison has been made between <br />our area and a similar or surrounding area for project cost. <br /> <br />Engineer RaatiP~ka said he based prices on past bids._.~ta~en in other communities. <br /> <br /> <br />
