Man-Made Features <br /> <br /> Trail corridors, where possible, should use man-made features such as: <br /> <br /> utility easements including power lines, pipelines, gas lines, <br /> telephone easements. <br /> <br /> b. railroad rights-of-way <br /> c. low volume highway rights-of-way <br /> d. aqueducts <br /> <br />3. General Qualifications ~ <br /> <br /> a. Corridors should protect incorporated resources and minimize the <br /> disruption of natural systems. <br /> <br />b. Corridors should provide a variety of experiences to the user. <br />c. Corridors should provide trailheade and support facilities to the user. <br />Location <br /> <br />1. Trail corridors should be easily accessible to peopl9. <br /> <br />2. Local trail systems should connect to the regional trails system. <br />ManaKement <br /> <br />1. Management shall be directed at preserving or restoring the resource base. <br /> <br />2. Maintain user confinement to =he boundaries of =he corridors except at <br /> access points. <br /> <br />3. Trail corridors prior to development shall have adequate operational and <br /> maintenance policies. <br /> <br />4. Trail uses within a corridor bu~ on separate ~readways shall be adequately <br /> protected from each other. <br /> <br /> Typical methods of separation include: <br /> a. opposite sides of a stream or creek <br /> b. earth berming <br /> c. establishment of plantings <br /> <br /> d. separation by vertical ~imbers or other physical means in areas where <br /> treadways come together such as culverts under roads, bridges, etc. <br /> <br />Use. <br /> <br />Trail uses may be designated as single, multi-use, and multi=seasonal as <br />shown in the classification system. <br /> <br />Trail uses will be determined by adjacent land uses, overall system plan <br />and compatibility of resources and uses. <br /> <br />Multi-use and/or multi-seasonal uses of trails should be a primary development <br />objective. <br /> <br />Typical trail uses incorporated in the sys:em according to planning area <br />should be: <br /> <br />-8- <br /> <br /> <br />
