TO: City Administrator

FROM: Building Official

DATED: May 23, 1979
RE: Monthly Report

Building continued to be somewhat slower than last year with 47 starts
for the m6r~th. For the same time period last year we hadt34 starts.

During the month I found two parties doing construction without building
permits. Both indicated they were not aware permits were required. One
was for a storage building and the other was for a fire place and both
have acquired permits now.

I attended the Building Officials meeting~in Rochester where much of the
discussion was about the status of the various bills before the legislature
in regards to enforcement of building codes. It appears that the only
change that will affect us is that ungraded lumber will be acceptable pro-
vided the building official attends au approved lumber grading school.
The local jurisdiction would, however, have the option of denying the use
of any ungraded lumber.

The State Bank of Anoka was sent a letter directing them to remove the new
sign~ which is apparently for the hardware store, at 167th and Highway #47.
The sign was installed in the right-of-way without.a permit.

Other letters sent out included two for residents with more than one
driveway and one with a problem with a septic system..

Other problems, including one permit I wo~ld not issue, are included in
separate reports.

Permits issued, mileage and inspections are as follows:

Permits Issued

Permit Fee Valuation Surcharge

A. Houses 16 $2,780.00 $746,000. $373.00
B. Garages 7 216.00 33,000. 16.50
C. Storage Buildings 4 45.00 4,500. 2.50
D. Swimming Pools 2 66.00 10,000. 5.00
E. Misc. 3 87.00 13,500. 7.50
F. Sewers 20 300.00
O. Plumbing 17 384.00
H. Totals 69 $3,878.00 $807,O00.- $404.50

Mileage and Inspections
Inspections 137
Mileage 1321

CRB: sb
