I
I

Avenue and CSAH #5. This structure is currently too small for
functions of the City and public meetings are being held at
the elementary school. The City has constructed a new municipal
office structure on CSAH #5 south of 153rd Avenue on the site
which was acquired. It is proposed to dedicate the

I
I
I

existing City Hall to historical purposes and to maintain the
road maintenance facilities in a garage on the current Town
Hall site. Some negotiation has been undertaken to enlarge
the site at this location for road maintenance garage purposes.

Small neighborhood parks exist in several of the existing

large lot residential developments within the study area. The

City of Anoka has 300 acres of undeveloped parkland immediately

across the Rum River which will be accessible to the study

I
I

area when the proposed bridge is installed. The same crossing
will provide access to the major county regional park at
Bunker Prairie, which is four miles east of the study area.
Other regional park areas are in the northeast corner of the

I
I
I

community and Anoka County has acquired a major parcel of
Mississippi River frontage which is south of MTH #10 southwest
of the study area. The ultimate proposed use of the sanitary
landfill site on the west side of the study area is for
recreational purposes. There is a small state park west on

I
I

MTH #10 at the west boundary of the City with the Mississippi
River.

- 19 -
