wooded steep bank on the west side of the park serves as a good
buffer between park activities and Germainium Street. A smaller
detached portion of Brookview Park lies across Germanium Street
from the main park area, and fronts 170th Avenue. This site
is presently unused. It most likely will not support any activ-
ities in the future, with the exception of parking -- if demand
necessitates.

Site #5, White Pines

This site is a ~5 acre area situated just one quarter mile south
of Brookview Park. This park is one of the newest additions
to the Ramsey Park System. Due to its close proximity to the
older and better developed Brookview Park, the site may suffer
from lack of use. However, White Pines is quite naturally beauti-
ful and is a nice addition to the city park system. Access is
from the south end of Helium Street N.W. only.

Site #6, Woodland Green

The newest of the Ramsey parks, this 5 acre area offers a tremen-
dous amount of development potential. Presently, the park is
partially developed with playground equipment. Consideration
should be given to expanding the site and to reshaping it. The
park is marked by natural terracing and if fully landscaped,
it could become a beautiful neighborhood park with this terracing.
On the west side is a small surface drainage area surrounded
heavily with trees. If enlarged the park would have better access
from 155th Lane and 156th Lane, in addition to lending itself
to more development of recreation facilities that would serve
the anticipated population of approximately 2,500 persons.

Site #7, Ramsey Terrace

An isolated park of 4.6 acres, located in the planned urban district
zone, this area should be expanded to the east to gain control
over a fairly large drainage pond, and thus complete a nice passive
park area with better access from 142nd Avenue N.W., in addition
to the present access point on Junkite Street. Currently, of
the q.6 acres, approximately two acres are usable and partially
developed with some playground equipment, picnic table, grill
and bench. This two acre area is also sloped and hilly, making
any additional development nearly impossible. The area to the
north should be considered also for acquisition. This area is
marked by trails winding through a heavily wooded hilly area.
In addition, it abuts a large natural pond; and gaining shoreland
park would be a valuable asset to the community. As the urban
district is developed, this shoreland trail area could be devel-
oped with access, parking and additional facilities, in addition
to adjoining an already nice passive area that could also become
larger from acquisition of land to the east. With this additional
land, Ramsey Terrace would soon become one of the nicest parks
in the city and surrounding area.

- 15 -
