Site #8, Hunter's Hill

This 4.5 acre park is also situated in the planned urban district
zone, and it is marked by steep slopes running into a surface
drainage depression. It is partially developed with some play-
ground equipment--picnic table, grill and bench. Access is poor,
with only the south end of the park open at 144th Avenue N.W.,
but it does adequately serve the immediate residents. As the
urban district grows, this area will not serve all residents
adequately. Consideration should be given to acquiring an access
road across the north end of the park. Also, consideration should
be given to reshaping the park away from such steep slopes on
three of the sides, or better landscaping to enhance the site.

Site #9, Peltzer

This 11.9 acres probably has the most potential at present for
becoming the nicest passive area in the city. The park is partially
developed--with only some playground equipment, picnic tables,
grills and benches. During the winter, the pond serves as an
ice-skating rink. Access is good from Kamacite Street and 150th
Avenue N.W. Consideration should be given to reshaping the area
--around the pond, and additional landscaping and smoothing out
the terrain. This then would lend itself to such improvements
as walking paths, an aesthetic viewing area, and allow for a
shelter to be used primarily as a warming facility in the winter.

Site #10, Beaudry

A 5.5 acre park that is strictly a surface drainage marsh. The
only access is by 152nd Avenue, on the south side. Because of
its location and its function, no improvements are feasible--
and so it should remain as a park in its present state.

Site #11, Greenland Hills 1

A 15.6 acre park site that has no improvements, relatively poor
access along Yolite Street, and it is 90% marsh land. This park
should be left in its present state, as no improvements are feasible.

Site #12, Greenland Hills 2

This is an 8.6 acre park like that of Greenland Hills 1. Access
is relatively poor, with only a small portion of the park bordering
Armstrong Boulevard on the west, and a 20' easement from a cul
de sac on the southeast corner of the park. Approximately 90%
of the site is low-lying and marshy; it therefore should be left
in its present state.

- 16 -
