Andy Eccleston for the position of full-time Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker starting July 19, 2004, at a starting wage of $16.03 per hour, plus benefits, <br />contingent upon successful completion of criminal back~ound and reference checks, a pre- <br />employment physical, and a drug screen. <br /> <br />Motion canSed. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councitmembers Cook, Pearson, Etvig, Strommen, <br />and Zirnmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Kurak. <br /> <br />Case #4: Report fi'om Finance Committee <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig reported the Finance Comrnittee met earlier this evening and discussed the <br />following cases: <br /> <br />1) Request for Authorization for a One Year Extension to the <br />Residential Curbside Recycling Contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated in Januau 2002, the City entered into a three year contract with Ace <br />Solid Waste, Inc. for the curbside collection of residential recycling. He noted the contract <br />included an option for a one-year extension and the current three year contract with .Ace Solid <br />Waste, Inc. is set to expire on December 31, 2004. He explained that state statute does not <br />require the City to obtain competitive proposals since it is a contracted service. -Councilmember <br />Elvig stated that Ace is interested in extending the contract for an additional year at the rate of <br />$1.88 per resident per month. He noted that Ace has been an inte~al part of the City's biannual <br />recycling day events and Ace currently provides an annual donation to the City of approximately <br />$2,000. The Finance Committee recommends approving a one-year extensiofi on the current <br />curbside recycling contract with Ace Solid Waste, inc. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember EIGg, seconded by Councilmernber Zilmnerman, to approve a one- <br />year extension on the cun'ent curbside recycling contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. <br /> <br />Cooncihnember Zimmennan requested that City Staff notify residents of the Ace contract <br />renewal via the website and/or the Ramse~ Resident. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Zimmerman, Cook, <br />Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Kurak. <br /> <br />2) Authorize Purchase of Tree Spade <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig stated the 2004 Capital Equipment Budget includes $40,000 for the <br />purchase of a tree spade that would be mounted to the existing front end loader.
