Assessor's Report accepted as presented, no problems noted., ^ttorney Goodrich con~nented regarding the public hearing on the Wild and Scenic Rivers that has been cancelled due to an amendment plan and that this will be rescheduled for sometime in January after receipt of the amendment. COUNCIL OLD BUSINESS I~EE'S I~xDSCAPING & NURSERY REQUEST FOR A TEMPORARY SIGN PERMIT Cotmci]man Cox noted that this is a new business in the City and if' the sign per, nit is to be approved, they are not to expect to get approval for the sign next year because once there are more bussinesses in the area, this type of sign display could become a problem. Councilnrm Reimarm commented that as long as it is zoned for Commercial business and if the .City wants to promote business in the Community, perhaps a connnuni_ty sign could be' installed. . Councilman Cox concurred with that idea and said that would be much better-.- than having a lot of signs scattered all over. He said he isn't against signs perse but is against signs for businesses that aren't even located. in Ramsey. Councilman Reimann suggested that the various business establishments get together and consider the community billboard proposal and submit a plan to the Council of what they would like to install for advertising of their businesses. Administrator Schnelle said he had seen this billboard si'gn method quite effectively used at Eden Prairie. Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Reimann to grant permission for Lee's Landscaping & Nursery to install a temporary 4 foot X 2 foot sign on Co. Rd. 5 & 47 from no, until January 5, 1979, for the Christmas season because this is a new business in the community and the City wishes to be supportive in helping them inform people of their existence. Motion carried. Voting yes: rayor gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. Mayor Gamec suggested Mrs. Crawley consider puttingup a similar billboard type sign on Industry Boulevard and getting together with those businesses- in the Industrial park on a joint effo~because they have indicated a similar desire. 1978 ~JDIT REPORT Mr. John Lilja of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells; was present to go over the 1978 City Audit with the Councilmembers. He said he has no particular concerns about the City's funds and that finances are in good order. He comp].~mented the staff for the progress they have made during the year in the financial department. The financial statements are in accordance with the Nation's standards.
