Dougherty <br />Page Two <br /> <br />JAN 0 3 <br /> <br />Pursuant to new, EnVironmental Protection Agency (EPA) <br />regulations,.entitled 'Criteria for Classification of <br />Solid Waste Disposal Facilities and Practices', 40 CFR <br />Part 257, it ~e. establishes that the pH of the 8olid. <br />Waste and'soil mixture must be ~.5 or greater at the time <br />of each solid waste application. A pH of ~.5 or more <br />is considered necessary ~o limit heavy metal leaching <br />and uptake by plants. Soils at the proposed sites <br />have PH values ranging from 5.4 to 5.9.
