Councilman Cox said that it is in the best interest of everyone that this
port,on be donated for the road.

Mr. Soderholm said he wants to be a welcome guest into the co~nunity and
not forced entry.

Councilman Cox stated that Mr. Soderholm would be able to get a building
permit but this would merely be a very good jesture on his part to give this
right of way to the City.

Mr. Soderholm'said he is very open to the needs of the City and when that
becomes an actual fact he will address the matter at that time.

Councilman Cox said that the County will need 60 feet from the centerline
of the road and asked that Mr. Soderholm leave a setback of 70 feet from
the centerline so that the exq~ansion of the road will not be hindered.

~otion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Reimann to enter
a contract with Soderholm & Associates as discussed.

Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann
and Sorteberg. Voting no: None.

Mr. Soderholm said he can assure the Council that he will be a part of the
co~unity and the part that he should be and if that is the thing for him to
do at the time, he will, but he is burned about the land he already gave away.

COUNCIL NEW BUSINESS

CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR GREENHOUSE IN R-1 'AREA, REQUEST 'FOR-CASE OF DONALD

VOiNER

Mrs. Volner and Mr. Knutson were present in regard to the request.

Councilman Cox stated that this type of business in residential areas interferes
with a person in a commercial business zone who is paying the tax base. They
would be cutting into his business. He feels that selling plants at plant
parties is taking business from people who would otherwise buy from commercial
businesses. He feels that a hobby greenhouse would be one that is 6' X 10' but
that a 624 square foot structure is quite large.

Mrs. Volner said they have outgrown a small greenhouse and if they built a
small structure they would need space to move and expand their storage for
pots etc., in no time at all.

Councilman Cox said he could not go along with one of this size. He feels it
is intended for commercial use and doesn't feel it is the intent of the residential
areas to have structures of this type.

Mr. Knutson said they would not be taking business away from commercial ventures
anymore than Amway is taking somp business away from the stores.

M~yor Gamec questioned if this is an occupation?

C/Feb. 12, 1980
Page 7
