Mayor Gamec said the city hasn't had any problem with garbage trucks on
these streets and there is a 3" Class V gravel base.

Mr. Becker noted the residents pay the cost~ but the city uses the streets
at the expense of the taxpayers in the community and the city assumes no
cost.

Mr. Becker read a letter from Mr. Hill who was not present and who owns lots
on Dolomite and Ebony Streets. Mr. Hill said in his letter that he wanted
to go on record as opposing the project because he moved into a country area
in Ramsey away from the city for the country atmosphere with private roads
and because two or three families use the roads for a race track and he
felt if the road is paved, the racing will be worse.

Mr. Becket said he opposed the paving of the roads for basically two reasons:
1) the blacktop will promote the race track atmosphere by promoting more usage
and therefore more racing. He said he didn't want to promote that kind of
atmosphere and he has called the local law enforcement officers regarding
this matter many times. He said he was also thinking of his children's safety.
2) He is opposed 'to the overall costs and he cannot afford almost $4,000 over
10 years with the propect of sewer & water in 15 to 20 years on top of the
already burdening assessment.

Mr. Becker said if the city is going to improve the area~ he would like to see
some caution signs out there regarding children and also some law enforcement.

Mayor Gamec said as far as the signs are concerned, there is going to be signs
put up with or without the paving.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Mickelson to close the
public hearing.

A vote was taken of the residents present. 23.residents voted. 15 voted for
and 10 voted against the project.

Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen. Sorteberg, Reimann,
Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None.

The public hearing adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Lloyd G. Schnelle
City Administrator/Clerk

Public Hearing
June 16, 1980
Page 4
