Within the City professional medical services are furnished by a medical <br />clinic-pharmacy which was recently completed. Hospital care is available <br />at Mercy Medical Center (Coon Rapids) which has 326 general hospital beds <br />and an adjacent doctor's clinic. Mercy is located within four (4) miles <br />of Ramsey's boundaries. Also a dental clinic'is located in the City and <br />serving its residents. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> <br />Electricity: City of Anoka Public Utilities and Rural Electric' <br /> Association <br /> <br />Gas: North Central Public Service <br /> <br />Telephone: Northwestern Bell Telephone Company <br /> <br />MUNICIPAL SERVICES <br /> <br />Police and Fire <br /> <br />Police protection for the City is provided by five (5) full-time officers. <br />The Anoka County Sheriff also patrols in the City and is available for <br />emergency calls. The City has contracts with the City's of Anoka and <br />Elk River for fire protection. The City of Anoka and Ramsey's boundaries <br />are adjacent. The City has a Class 8 insurance rating. <br /> <br />Recreational <br /> <br />The City maintains twenty (20) park areas totalling 165 acres. The City <br />Code provides for the establishment of a park fund to be financed by new <br />construction in the City and used for parkland acquisition and development. <br /> <br />Municipal Center <br /> <br />In 1976, the City applied for and was awarded an Economic Develbpment Ad- <br />ministration (EDA) grant of approximately $595,000.00 for construction of <br />a municipal center which included a fire hall. The building was ready for <br />occupancy in December, 1977. It is located on a five (5) acre parcel of <br />land and contains 15,000 square feet..The building is of masonry con- <br />struction. The City also ownsa parcel of land approximately one (1) acre <br />in size at a different location on which is located two (2) large garages <br />which house the street maintenance equipment. <br /> <br />EDUCATION <br /> <br />Ramsey is part of Independent School District #11 and a small area of the <br />City is part of District #728. The District maintains twenty-six (26) <br />elementary schools, nine (9) secondary schools and two (2) post-secondary <br />schools. The District had a 1979-80 enrollment of approw~mately 32,000 <br />students. Disbrict #ll also employs approximately 3~000 full and part- <br />time personnel. <br /> <br /> <br />
