Mr. Lloyd G. S~hnelle
City Administrator
City of Ramsey

July 2~, 1980
Page 2

Finally, I would like to point out that solid waste disposal
sites are no longer exempt from taxation as pollution control
facilities. The new Waste Management Act amended Minnesota
Statutes Section 272.02 providing that real property used
primarily as a solid waste disposal site can now be taxed.

The Council has a Solid Waste Advisory Committee which normally
meets once a month. I will add your name to our mailing list
of persons interested in following the work of the Committee
so that you are notified of future meetings of this Committee°
The Committee will be assisting staff in the preparation 'of the
report I referred to above and will from 'time to time discuss
solid waste management issues that affect local communities.
I would encourage you and other representatives of the City
of Ramsey to participate in the activities of this~Co~nittee
when you note items of interest on their agenda. ~

Please feel free to contact me, or Paul Smith (291-6408) of
our Solid l~aste Program staff, if we can be of assistance to
you in the future.

Very ~incerely,

Charles R.
