ADDENDUM TO COUNCIL OLD BUSINESS

CASE #10:

RANSEY LANDFILL REGARDING ~ETHANE GAS:

Citizens will be in to complain to the Council about how the
methane gas and other odors which are being generated by the
Ramsey Landfill are ruining a normal family home life for the
citizens who reside next to it.

City Administrators Comments: I did receive calls Saturday
night (S$~tember 6% 1980) and Sunday evening (September 7,
1980) about the terrible odor at the Ramsey Landfill. Saturday
night the citizens were really alarmed that there may have been
high quanities of methane in the air. Consequently, I did call
the County and they dispatched Art Dunn to the scene. I guess
he was only able to come up with traces of it.

It appears to me that a better system has got to be worked out
in monitoring the methane gas at times other than the normal
working hours. I will cover this at the meeting.

Enclosure (D2-d) contains the following documents:

a) Letter dated September 7, 1980 fromM rs. Sue Van Wagner.

b) Letter from Anoka County Comprehensive Health dated
September 2, 1980 containing landfill reports for the
month of August, 1980.

Council Action: Your action will be to note the contents of
enclosure (D2-d) for documentation purposes.
