NEC Sec. 300-22(b) - Is amended by adding an exception for Group B-2 <br />Occupancies, permitting communication wiring in return air plenums outside of <br />metal conduct or raceways when the building is protected throughout by an <br />automatic sprinkler system~ smoke detectors in the plenum or listed wire. <br /> <br />2MCAR 8701 - The 1979 edition of the Minnesota Plumbing Code is referenced. <br />Fourteen amendments to the plumbing code are adopted. <br /> <br />MHD 122(g) - Is amended to require an independent connection to the public <br />sewer for each building. <br /> <br />MHD Table 123(c)(3) VI. - Minimum water service working pressure for plastic <br />pipe is reduced from 160 PSI to 150 PSI for Municipal water service and from <br />120 PSI to 100 PSI for others. <br /> <br />M~D 123(d) (2) - Is amended to accept copper tube & plastic pipe for water <br />service in other than yard areas, limiting plastic water service to a maximum <br />length of 2 ft. within the building. Plastic water service piping must be <br />installed in accordance with ASTM D-2274-72. <br /> <br />MHD 124(a)(2)(11-4) - Is amended to permit use of additional joining methods <br />for hubless cast iron soil pipe. <br /> <br />MHD I24(a)(4) - New Section (ff) added, permitting use of transition couplings. <br /> <br />MHD 125(b)(3) - Amendment permits use of other material for cleanout covers. <br /> <br />MHD 130(b)(2)(aa) - Amendment permits additional materials for water service <br />and sewer connections to be installed in the same trench and also where water <br />and sewer lines cross. <br /> <br />MHD 130(e)(9)(gg)(ggl) - Amendment defines where pressure type vacuum breakers <br />are required. <br /> <br />MHD 130(f) - New-section (6) is added-requiring ~that water heaters be <br />accessible. <br /> <br />MHD Table 131 (a)(2)(A) - Is amended to require a minimum sewer service of 4". <br /> <br />M~D 131(b)(5) (aa 5) - Requires that the minimum capacity of a sump in single <br />family dwellings be 18 gallons. <br /> <br />MHD Table 123(C)(3) VI - Is amended to list ABS schedule 30 pipe, meeting <br />ASTM D 2751 standards. <br /> <br />MHD 123(d)(4)(gg) - Is amended to permit use of schedule 30 ABS for building <br />sewers. <br /> <br />MHD 130(e)(5) - Is amended to provide necessary protection from back siphonage <br />where toxic solutions are used in systems connected to potable water supplies. <br /> <br />2MCAR Sec. 1.18801-18813 - The entire section on Elevators~ Dumbwaiters~ <br />Escalators, Manlifts, Moving Walks~ Hoists & Lifts has been re-arranged in <br />format to be consistant with the State Building Code. The 1978 ANSI Al7.1 <br />Standard and the 1979 Supplement has been adopted with amendments. New <br />Sections 2MCAR 1.18811 through 1.18813 have been adopted permitting the use of' <br />vertical lifts for wheelchair elevating devices in existing buildings and <br />establishing standards of safety for those devices.
