Suburban Hennepin gained 8,380 net units or 40 per cent of the
Area's total gain. This growth was highest in the second and third ring suburbs.

Dakota County (9.2 per cent) and suburban Ramsey County (7.6 per cent) showed
the largest percentage gain over 1968. Burnsville, Eagan, Inver Grove Heights,
Lakeville, and West St. Paul all contributed substantially to the continued
growth of Dakota County. The leading communities in suburban Ramsey County
were Little Canada, Maplewood, Mounds View, New Brighton', Roseville,
and Vadnats Heights. Nearly 25 per cent of this growth in suburban Ramsey
county is attributed to new mobile homes.

Mobile Homes

Total additional mobile homes located in mobile home parks rose from 398 in
1968 to 1,542 in 1969. An additional 222 new mobile homes not in parks
raised the 1969 total to 1,764 or seven per cent of the new housing in the Area.
In 1968 mobile homes comprised just tWo per cent of new Area housing. Although
the seven per cent figure is far lower than the national average, it is the
largest yearly increase in the Area since the collection of housing data was
initiated on a regional basis in 1962. At present, 1.3 per cent of the
Area's housing is in mobile homes. The communities with the highesi increase
in new mobile homes are, for the most part, in the third and fourth ring of -
suburbs..Table 4 gives the absolute totals and percentage incre'ase by county
and selected communities. Area's population contains 18% of the Area's
mobile homes and registered an increase of only seven units during the past year.
